To our valued returning customers and to those of you how have just found us. You will see an increase in our pricing. Cynthia and I want to explain this so you understand what is going on in the world of Albacore tuna.

The Japanese lost over 90% of their fishing fleet in the March 2011 tsunami. As a result, they were major buyers of West Coast albacore tuna this year, and their increased demand brought the price of whole albacore up to $5,200 / ton (up from $2,800 / ton for the past few years). This was great for the fishermen that sell their catch "across the dock", but for those of us that market our own tuna, it made it impossible for us to keep the same pricing that we have tried to maintain for some time now. Even at our current increased pricing, it would have been better in the short term for us to also sell our fish "across the dock", but we know that there are a lot of you that depend on us for your tuna, and we really appreciate that. This season, we continued to keep and can our fish, but must raise our prices to meet the “dock price”.
